Abstract:
»The purpose of the article. To analyze the problem of sexual violence during the German-Soviet war in social and scientific discourses, the “conflict of memories” and political components of the Russian Federation (RF) and Ukraine. To outline aspects of the topic that require scientific study by domestic historians, in the territory of Ukraine and beyond. Using the example of the confrontation of socio-political discourses in the countries of the European Union (EU) and the Russian Federation, to show how this issue can be politicized in the interests of political elites and states. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity, logic, systematic typology of scientific directions, historical comparative studies. The scientific novelty lies in the formulation of the specified question, an attempt to consider it within the framework of the specified components and projection onto the events of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war. Conclusions. In the process of work, the author concluded that the issue of sexual violence during the German-Soviet war is not adequately reflected in Ukrainian historical science. Despite certain achievements, which are mainly associated with feminist studies in Ukraine, a number of aspects of sexual crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine have still remained out of focus. The narrative of sexual violence in the early 2000s was very popular in the public and political discourse of the EU and the Russian Federation, and in Ukraine it was supplanted by other problems of the Second World War and, first of all, the problems of the Ukrainian national liberation movement of 1940-1950.«
